Piedmont Health is happy to announce several new personnel:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHelen Mikul, CNM, is the lead provider at the Siler City Community Health Center. She has been involved in nursing and midwifery since 1998 and has worked with Piedmont Health since 2008. Previously she worked in the freestanding birth center in Chapel Hill, as well as for Duke University Medical Center.

Mikul received her Master of Science in Nursing and Certified Nursing Midwife degrees from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC.

Mikul described her role as “helping all departments work well together so that we can provide the highest quality care we can for everybody in the community.” She said she is proud that the Siler City Community Health Center provides a variety of services – including a pharmacy, dental services and WIC services – to a wide variety of patients. “We have patients with all levels of education and income,” Mikul said. “We’re here to meet the health-care needs of everyone in the community.” Mikul has three grown children and two grandchildren and lives in Pittsboro, N.C.

 Nzingha WhiteNzingha J. White, M.D, is a family medicine physician at the Siler City Community Health Center. She received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a Master of Public Health, Public Health Leadership Program, from the University of North Carolina, Gillings School of Global Public Health. Dr. White has post-graduate training in UNC’s Preventative Medicine Residency, and she also completed a Family Medicine Internship and Residency at UNC’s Department of Family Medicine.

“I enjoy working at the Siler City Community Health Center and being able to use my preventative health experiences to serve the whole community,” Dr. White stated. “We have a very good, dedicated team here. I am looking forward to seeing new patients in my new practice.” Mikul provides a range of medical services to all women. White welcomes all now patients to her practice. Piedmont Health accepts most forms of insurance including Medicare and Medicaid. It also provides medical and dental care on a sliding scale fee.

JamieDeGraw Article PicJamie DeGrawis the Manager of Health Center Operations for the Siler City Community Health Center and the Moncure Community Health Center. This is a new position in with a regional outlook, DeGrawis explained.

“My focus is on the whole community. The goal is to standardize practices as we continue to grow so that there is a more consistent experience across all of the sites,” he said.

DeGrawis has an undergraduate degree as well as a master’s in Health-Care Administration from the University of North Carolina. He came to Piedmont Health from eastern North Carolina, where he worked as deputy director of the Rural Health Group.

He lives in Carrboro, NC with his wife.
