Dr. Monica Schmucker

Ms. Schmucker is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has worked with Piedmont Health since 2008. She received her masters from UNC in 2008, and her undergraduate degree from Malone University in Canton, Ohio, in 2001. Asked to explain the nature of her job, Ms. Schmucker said: “I’m not a physician; I’m a nurse with advanced training in primary care. This gives me a unique blend of skills to treat patients of all ages in order to help them stay healthy and address their health needs.” She added that she also is excited about her new position, and that she is happy to be working at Piedmont Health: “I enjoy getting to know patients, and the people I work with are top-notch. I feel like we have a good team, and I enjoy being part of this team.”

One of her favorite outside interests is gardening, which she says is “relaxing and a nice way to meet people in the community.” She belongs to the Anathoth Community Garden in Cedar Grove. She also likes to travel; this year alone, she has visited Guatemala, Germany, New York City and San Francisco.

Dr. Audry Kemp

Dr. Audry Kemp

Dr. Kemp has been with Piedmont Health since June 2012. She received her DDS from the Meharry School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2005. She attended Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Florida for her undergraduate studies. “My favorite part of being a dentist is providing dental care to those who need it,” Dr. Kemp said. “I like helping patients in this community. I like being able to improve people’s lives and to help them achieve the smile that they want to have.” Dr. Kemp has participated in a number of community outreach events for Piedmont Health’s dental program. In her free time, she enjoys scrapbooking and spending time with her fiancé and her Yorkie.

Brian Toomey, CEO of Piedmont Health, said that Piedmont Health said Ms. Schmucker, in her new role, and the addition of Dr. Kemp to Piedmont’s staff will benefit residents in central North Carolina.
“Ms. Schmucker and Dr. Kemp are well qualified, dedicated professionals and I am confident that they will make valuable contributions to Piedmont Health as we continue to pursue our mission of providing high-quality, affordable health care to North Carolina’s citizens,” Toomey said.
