Dr. Douglas Sanford graduated from Meharry Medical College with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He focuses on preventive and restorative dentistry, serving patients with compassion and skill. Dr. Sanford enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.

Scott McGrath serves as the Pharmacy Manager for Piedmont Health's Burlington Community Health Center Pharmacy and PACE Pharmacy. A graduate of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Scott has spent his entire career in community pharmacy, where he enjoys building relationships with patients and making a meaningful impact on their health every day. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, gardening, and playing guitar.

Dr. Schettini is a Family Physician at Piedmont Health Services (PHS). She attended Duke University for undergrad (Psychology major and Global Health certificate) and medical school, as a member of the Primary Care Leadership Track (PCLT). She completed UNC Family Medicine Residency followed by UNC Family Medicine Procedures Fellowship. She now offers procedural care (skin biopsies, joint injections, and contraceptive devices) at multiple PHS clinic sites.

Ben Magee is a Physician Assistant and values building trusting relationships with patients and creating a supportive, compassionate care environment.

Daniela is a dedicated Behavioral Health Consultant with over five years of experience in the healthcare field. Originally from Colombia, she brings a deep passion for social work, with a strong commitment to advocacy and supporting underserved communities—especially the Latino population. Daniela earned her Master’s in Social Work from the UNC in 2020. Outside of her professional work, Daniela enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors, finding balance and inspiration in nature.

Scott Drouin serves as a Pharmacy Manager. He earned his Bachelor of Science in 1997 and his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in 2005 from UNC-Chapel Hill. A devoted Tar Heel fan, Scott enjoys hiking, playing pickleball, and golfing when he's not caring for patients.

Evan Ashkin, MD, specializes in Family Medicine and has served with Piedmont Health for over 15 years. Dr. Ashkin is committed to staying at the forefront of medical advancements to ensure the highest standard of patient care.

Dr. Jewell P. Carr is a family medicine physician. She earned her medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine and brings over a decade of clinical experience. Dr. Carr has expertise in managing chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart failure, and bipolar disorder, and is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Dr. Jovaria Khalid is a pediatrician who is passionate about partnering with families to help children grow up healthy, happy, and thriving. She speaks English, Urdu, and Hindi, and enjoys cooking cuisines from around the world, hiking, and exploring new places with her family.

Dr. Krishna Aluri is trained in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and loves caring for patients of all ages, including for wellness and preventive care, acute concerns, and chronic conditions. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, hiking, reading, listening to music, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Nandini Murthi is a board-certified internal medicine physician providing primary care for adult patients. She takes a holistic approach focused on disease prevention, chronic disease management, and treatment of acute illness. Dr. Murthi is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, and Tulu. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading, music, nature walks, and traveling.

Janai is a licensed clinical social worker who earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland. She is passionate about empowering individuals to recognize their strengths and navigate life’s challenges with confidence. Janai has a special interest in working with underserved communities, families, and children, and brings seven years of experience in school-based mental health services in Baltimore. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, taking walks, and discovering new cafés.

Erica serves as the Pharmacy Manager at Piedmont Health's Chapel Hill location. She earned both her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from UNC Chapel Hill. Outside of work, Erica enjoys reading, country line dancing, and spending time at the beach. She is also the proud mother of two adult sons.

Christina Cronk, MD, is a family medicine physician trained at UNC, with a special interest in maternal and child health, women’s health, and caring for families. She enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients and providing comprehensive care. Dr. Cronk also speaks Spanish, allowing her to connect with and care for a diverse range of patients. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family, running, and reading fiction.

Gregory Wheatley is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. Greg graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Nutritional Science and later graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Master's in Public Health with a focus in Nutrition. Gregory is fluent in Spanish and is married with 5 children. He likes to spend time with his family, running, some gardening, and participating in church events.

New to the Piedmont Health family, Kam is excited to serve the residents across central NC.

Jennifer Shepherd is a highly experienced clinician joining the Alamance County community with 17 years of practice in NC. A dual-degree holder with an MA in Community Mental Health and an MBA from Lenoir-Rhyne University, she specializes in whole-person care and stress management. Outside of her professional work, Jennifer is an "empty nester" who enjoys community theater, live sports, and building complex Lego sets.

Susan Pitts is a board-certified pediatrician with a medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania. With expertise in child health and wellness, Dr. Pitts provides expert care to her young patients, supporting their growth and development, and has been with PHS since 1991.

Dr. Pitts is fluent in Spanish, and in her spare time, she enjoys Latin dancing, fishing, growing vegetables, participating in her church, and spending time with family.

Jennifer Mahoney is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a master’s degree from the UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing. She provides patient-centered, personalized care to promote health and wellness. Jennifer speaks Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, walking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Lynn Salazar-Wadford is a licensed social work associate with a Master's degree in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill. Aubrey Womack is a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian with a Master's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She provides comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy to a diverse population, specializing in areas such as diabetes, cholesterol management, and weight management. Aubrey is passionate about healthy living, whether she's growing vegetables in her garden for cooking and baking or enjoying a hike. She also loves connecting with people and getting to know them here at PHS.

A graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy, Ginger has always dreamed of working at a community health center. As a lifelong North Carolinian, they are proud to be part of Piedmont Health and the organization's mission to provide quality care for the community. Registered Dietitian (RD) with a Master’s in Nutrition Science from SUNY at Buffalo and an extensive background in research, health education, and WIC community nutrition. Driven by a passion for individual clinical care, Jodi completed her ACEND dietetic training through the University of Northern Colorado and passed the RD exam in May 2026. Outside of work, Jodi considers herself a foodie who enjoys cooking, baking, and trying new recipes.

Originally from Utica, New York, Dr. Jewel Llamas earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her medical doctorate from the University of Virginia. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Her professional interests include caring for Spanish-speaking populations, women’s health, adolescent health, treatment of substance use disorders, and gender-affirming care.

Dr. Caroline Collins Roberts is a Family Medicine Resident with UNC Family Medicine, committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to patients of all ages.

Narges Farahi is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to the community. With a focus on preventative wellness and patient education, Dr. Farahi believes in building long-term relationships to help patients achieve their unique health goals.

Dr. John Doughton is passionate about caring for the community through compassionate, evidence-based medicine. By focusing on prevention and patient education, he builds meaningful, long-term relationships that empower patients to reach their personal health goals.

I attended NC State (go Pack!) as a Park Scholar, where I studied Nutrition Science and Spanish. I chose to become a family physician because I strongly believe in the role of primary care providers as part of the safety net that supports and advocates for vulnerable communities.

I am so excited and honored to provide care in the setting of Prospect Hill FQHC. I am passionate about advocating for primary care access in rural settings and have interests in lifestyle medicine and preventative care, outpatient procedures and POCUS, prenatal care and women’s health, medical Spanish and international health, and geriatric care.

When she's not helping clients thrive, Rebecca loves spending time with her feline friends and whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen.

Dr. George Restrepo earned his degree from Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board-certified in Family Medicine. He speaks Spanish and enjoys working out, running, and hiking the mountain trails of North Carolina.

Cynthia Knight serves as the Pharmacy Manager at Scott CHC. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Outside of work, Cynthia and her husband stay busy cheering on their two sons at basketball, baseball, track, and soccer events. As a family, they enjoy spending time at the beach and exploring the outdoors.

Derek Huffman is a Family Nurse Practitioner who provides comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages. With a strong focus on preventive health and patient education, he is dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve long-term wellness.

Dr. Elena Adamo earned her BS from the University of Richmond in 2006 and her MD/MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014. Dr. Adamo speaks Spanish and enjoys full-spectrum family medicine, including pediatric and prenatal care. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her daughters and dogs, and enjoys reading, swimming, cooking, and gardening.

Dr. Linda Miles earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1993. Outside of caring for patients, she enjoys spending her free time gardening.

Natashia Wiley earned her Master of Social Work from North Carolina A&T State University. She loves being part of the Behavioral Health team and is passionate about supporting her clients and helping them achieve their goals.

Michael “Mikey” Escobar was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). When choosing a residency program, he sought a place where he could serve underserved Latino communities while continuing to strengthen his medical Spanish skills. Outside of medicine, Mikey enjoys lifting weights, playing pickleball, and going on runs with friends.

Hieu serves as a Pharmacy Manager for Siler City CHC and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Outside of work, they enjoy staying active by playing golf, tennis, and biking. He also has a passion for music and plays both the guitar and piano.

Dr. Leonard grew up across the Carolinas, in both small towns and large cities, which shaped her appreciation for the strong connection between healthcare and the communities it serves. She completed medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville. Her interest in family medicine was sparked while working as a CNA at a free clinic and as a medical scribe in an emergency department, experiences that reinforced her commitment to improving access to primary care and addressing health disparities.

Zion Saunders is a dedicated mental health professional who earned both his Bachelor’s in Psychology and Applied Sociology (2021) and Master of Social Work (2023) from East Carolina University. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and Certified Supervisor-Intern.

Jada is a psychotherapist with a decade of experience specializing in child and adolescent mental health. As a School-Based BHC, she utilizes evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, and play therapy to treat trauma, anxiety, and behavioral challenges. An avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, Jada enjoys traveling, mindfulness, and spending time with her dog.

Providing integrated care across PHS clinics in Orange, Chatham, Alamance, and Caswell counties, Verlissa earned her MSW from UNC in 2017. She's a certified trauma-informed family coach and a bilingual English/Spanish speaker.

Jessica Brasher is a North Carolina native, receiving her BSW from Western Carolina University. Jessica received her MSW from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a focus in community organization and advocacy and mental health, with a minor in human service management. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina and Michigan.

Dr. Layla Martin, Ed.D., LCSW, has experience supporting children, adolescents, and young adults. Her clinical work focuses on helping young people build coping skills, navigate challenges, and feel supported as they grow. Outside of work, she enjoys building LEGO sets, hosting sound bath experiences, and reading.
